Upward Bound students turn children's drawings into fabric toys

CHADRON – A cooperative project between the Summer Upward Bound (UB) Program and the 91ÇÑ×Ó State College Child Development Center (CDC) came to a magical conclusion Thursday morning as plush 3-D monster toys emerged from a box when only several weeks ago they had been regular two-dimensional drawings.

Ten years later: Spotted Tail fire remembered

CHADRON – The sun arose bright and hot over 91ÇÑ×Ó on July 28, 2006. Area residents were already on alert from wildfires that had started two days before in the nearby Pine Ridge forest. Daytime temperatures had been above 100 degrees several times during the month and the danger of additional fires was rated high.

C-Hill recovers slowly from 2006 fire

CHADRON – The fire that crested C-Hill on the 91ÇÑ×Ó State College campus at about 8:15 p.m. on July 28, 2006, was burning so hot that many trees on the ridge, which forms a scenic background for the College and the 91ÇÑ×Ó community, burst instantly into flames.
