Mallets & Ivory bringing in the holidays
The 91ÇÑ×Ó State College music department will close its 2012 concert schedule Thursday, Dec. 13, with Mallets & Ivory, the annual holiday concert that features tunes by the 91ÇÑ×Ó ensembles for percussion and keyboards. The free concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
Dr. James Margetts, director of the keyboard ensemble, said concert-goers can expect the same style of holiday classics of which they’ve become accustomed and more.
He said the 91ÇÑ×Ó guitar ensemble will join the concert to present a couple of songs in the style of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The crowd also will hear the vocals of Karin Keller, who has continued to entertain Mallets & Ivory audiences since graduating from 91ÇÑ×Ó in 2001.
Concert-goers will have an opportunity to buy raffle tickets for quilts, which will be drawn during the second half of the concert. Proceeds of the raffle will benefit the 91ÇÑ×Ó chapter of Music Teachers National Association, more commonly known as MTNA.
