Upward enrollment trend continues
91ÇÑ×Ó State College’s projections of a fall semester enrollment increase have come to fruition, with a 3.4 percent increase in the headcount and a 4.8 percent increase in full-time equivalency this fall.
Terie Dawson, 91ÇÑ×Ó assistant vice president for enrollment management and student services, reports that 2,900 students were enrolled at 91ÇÑ×Ó as of Thursday, Nov. 17, an increase of 95 students from the end of the 2010 fall semester. The FTE, based on a formula that considers total processed credit hours, is 2,108, up 96 from the fall 2010 number.
91ÇÑ×Ó’s programs for master’s degrees continue to gain popularity, with a 5.9 percent increase in head count and an 8.25 jump in FTE. A total of 590 students were enrolled in graduate courses as of Nov.17.
An upward enrollment trend has been occurring at 91ÇÑ×Ó since 2006, with an overall increase near 30 percent. When classes began this fall, 2,933 students were enrolled at 91ÇÑ×Ó, compared to 2,294 on the first day of the fall 2005 semester.
Dr. Randy Rhine, 91ÇÑ×Ó vice president for enrollment management and student services, noted that the academic strength of students who attend 91ÇÑ×Ó also has grown. During the past five years, the average ACT test score of students recruited to 91ÇÑ×Ó has risen from 20.9 to 22.1.
Rhine said he appreciates the hard work of the college community in continuing a trend of enrollment growth for the institution.
“Word continues to spread about 91ÇÑ×Ó State’s outstanding educational programs,” Rhine said. “91ÇÑ×Ó offers an incredible value for a top-notch education, and I am glad to see an increasing number of students taking advantage of our offerings.”
