The musical, which is the 91ÇÑ×Ó theatre program’s first production of the 2011-2012 academic year, will run Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 6-9. Show time is 7:30 p.m. each night except for Sunday, which features the 2 p.m. matinee.

Six 91ÇÑ×Ó students have been preparing for their parts as the timeless characters created by Charles Schulz in his comic strip, “Peanuts.”

The cast includes Ammon Weser of Provo, Utah, as Charlie Brown, Derek Phelps of Sidney as Linus, Willis Miller of Deer Trail, Colo., as Schroeder, Jayma Loghry of Sidney as Lucy, Lauren Morris of Denver as Sally and Ashley Daniels of Sheridan, Wyo., as Snoopy.

Roger Mays, the play’s director, said the students have gone through a great deal of time and effort to bring the comedy to life. He said it will be perfect for children and their parents, and no less ideal for college students.

In cooperation with the 91ÇÑ×Ó Library Foundation, the theatre program plans a special showing of the play for area school children Friday, Oct. 7, at noon. Also, area high school students will be on campus from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, for Theatre Day, in which 91ÇÑ×Ó faculty and students will present workshops for aspiring actors and actresses.

“Charlie Brown” is one of four productions on the schedule for 91ÇÑ×Ó’s theatre program for this academic year, and the only one being promoted for “the entire family.” Other plays on the schedule are “Doubt,” Nov. 17-20, “An Adult Evening with Shel Silverstein,” Feb. 9-12, 2012, both for mature audiences. The final play, “Bus Stop,” on April 19-22, 2012, is billed as suitable for viewers age 13 and up.
