Homecoming to feature Chris Cagle concert
91ÇÑ×Ó State College has added country music artist Chris Cagle to its list of homecoming entertainment.
Tickets went on sale in late September for Cagle’s concert, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23. The concert has moved to the Nelson Physical Activity Center from its originally scheduled location, the college's practice fields.
Shellie Johns, who leads the committee for 91ÇÑ×Ó’s Galaxy Series of fine arts and cultural events, is encouraging college students and employees to reserve their free tickets through the 91ÇÑ×Ó Box Office before the allotted 900 seats sell out.
Cagle has had many hits since signing with a major record label in 2000. Songs that have reached the top five in the charts are “I Breathe In, I Breathe Out,” “What a Beautiful Day,” “Chicks Dig It” and “What Kinda Gone.”
The concert will help 91ÇÑ×Ó kick off its year-long centennial celebration homecoming weekend. Johns said two Galaxy Series subcommittees pooled budget resources to sign Cagle after his name was chosen from a four-page list of acts brought forward by students of 91ÇÑ×Ó’s Campus Activities Board.
Cagle isn’t the first big name Nashville recording artist to appear on 91ÇÑ×Ó’s campus. In the 1990s, students arranged concerts by Sawyer Brown, Martina McBride and Chris LeDoux.
