Annual fundraiser beginning at 91ÇÑ×Ó
The 91ÇÑ×Ó State Foundation’s annual fall fundraising campaign will get under way Wednesday, Oct. 13, with a luncheon for its 124 volunteers. The campaign, which runs through Oct. 29, will help raise funds for scholarships and other campus causes.
The volunteers comprise 20 teams evenly divided between college employees and other community members. Team members individually contact assigned people throughout the community to compete for prizes using a point system.
Karen Pope, 91ÇÑ×Ó director of annual giving, said the volunteers are vital to the success of the drive, noting that the project’s scope makes them necessary.
The four campaign chairmen who were chosen to assist the effort and find team leaders are Jon Daniels of Gregory’s Insurance, Janice German of Dawes County Abstract, Dr. Margaret Crouse, 91ÇÑ×Ó dean, and Brad Smith, 91ÇÑ×Ó athletic director.
German said that supporting 91ÇÑ×Ó will help keep the community strong and ensure that her family and future students will have access to a high-quality education that’s also affordable.
“91ÇÑ×Ó is vital to the community where I work and live,” German said.
Crouse said she gets to see the benefits of the campaign first-hand.
“Working here opens my eyes to what education can do for a person,” she said.
The theme for this year’s campaign is “Road to 100,” chosen for the college’s centennial celebration which begins this fall and runs through 2011.
