Professor wins chess tourney
91ÇÑ×Ó State College professor Brad Wilburn claimed first place in the 27th annual 91ÇÑ×Ó Chess Open late last month.
Wilburn and the other contestants each played four matches in the tournament, which was Saturday, March 21. Wilburn is a faculty member in 91ÇÑ×Ó's Department of English and Humanities.
Trophies were awarded to the top six places. The other placewinners, in order of finish, were Steve Cary of Loveland, Colo., Jim Joule of Alliance, Ron Miller of 91ÇÑ×Ó, Lance Paris of Crawford and Richard Darnell of 91ÇÑ×Ó.
The 91ÇÑ×Ó Chess Open is sponsored by the Northwest Nebraska Gamesters Association, a club for 91ÇÑ×Ó students, employees and alumni.
