Dancers from Ukraine plan Great Plains performances
Because of a formal relationship between 91ÇÑ×Ó State College and a Ukraine university, a group of cultural performers from eastern Europe will put on a show at 91ÇÑ×Ó and eight other locations throughout the Great Plains.
Kolos, a group of 20 singers and dancers from the National Agriculture Academy of Ukraine at Kiev, will perform as part of the Galaxy Series at 91ÇÑ×Ó's Memorial Hall Auditorium, Saturday, Oct. 20, at 7:30 p.m.
Performances are planned at Dickinson State University of North Dakota and Mid-Plains Community College at North Platte earlier that week. The group will also perform in churches and schools in Fargo, N.D., Omaha, Columbus, Aurora, Sidney, Scottsbluff, North Platte and 91ÇÑ×Ó.
Loree MacNeill, 91ÇÑ×Ó director of cultural programs and college relations, said the group will “amaze the audience with lively performances.”
More than a dozen members of the 91ÇÑ×Ó State faculty and administration traveled to Kiev, which is about 5,600 miles from 91ÇÑ×Ó, in May to form relations with NAUU. The visit resulted in a signed memorandum of collaboration between the two institutions.
While in the United States, the group plans to visit a number of tourist attractions. While at 91ÇÑ×Ó, the group will take part in a traditional American football party at a restaurant Thursday, Oct. 18, when the 91ÇÑ×Ó Eagles’ game against Nebraska-Kearney is aired on national television.
