Belinda Branek of Steinauer, Neb., and Brandi Chytka of Hemingford completed their four years at KSU earlier this month and will soon begin practicing. Branek is joining a clinic at Mule Shoe, Tex., and Chytka will work with Dr. Phillip Kesterson at Bridgeport.

Chytka (prounounced Kit-ka) graduated among the top 10 percent of the Class of 2005, which had 109 members.

The former 91ÇÑ×Ó students who have been accepted to study veterinary medicine at Kansas State beginning this fall are Nathan Kotschwar of McCook and Brooke Martin of Burke, S.D.

Kotschwar attended Kansas State this past year, completing work on his bachelor of science degree. He transferred those credits to 91ÇÑ×Ó State and graduated from 91ÇÑ×Ó on May 7.

His wife, the former Jamie Wood of Orchard, will begin her second year of veterinary training at Kansas State this fall. She attended 91ÇÑ×Ó three years before going to KSU.

Martin has attended 91ÇÑ×Ó the past three years. She has earned all A’s to make the President’s List each of the past three semesters and was on the Dean’s List the previous three semesters.

Martin also was accepted at the Veterinary College at Iowa State University, but chose to go to Kansas State even though it will cost her about $33,000 annually compared to $13,000 at Iowa State

. The reciprocity agreement that allowed Nebraska students to pay in-state tuition at the KSU Veterinary College while Kansas students paid in-state tuition at the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry expired this year. A similar agreement has been worked out with Iowa, but Martin said she decided the extra cost to attend KSU will be worth it.

There will be 10 former 91ÇÑ×Ó students attending veterinary schools this fall. Seven will be at Kansas State and one each at Colorado State, Iowa State and Oklahoma State.
