Carpenter said Hoffman has proven to be a sound facilities manager and strategic planner. His duties have included guiding 91ÇÑ×Ó State through a 10-year facilities master plan that was completed in September 2001.

Hoffman’s responsibilities at 91ÇÑ×Ó also have included overseeing the numerous construction and renovation projects that have occurred in recent years and supervision of human resources, business and computer services, budget and payroll, maintenance and support personnel.

“His experience and sense of humor will be a strong addition to our staff,” Carpenter said.

Park noted that while she has known Hoffman for only the four months that she has been the college’s president, she has learned how valuable he is to 91ÇÑ×Ó State.

“His day-to-day good humor, expertise and professionalism will be a great loss to 91ÇÑ×Ó,” said Park. “However, I know he will continue to advocate for 91ÇÑ×Ó from his new position in the system office.”

Hoffman earned his bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Black Hills State University. He owned a portrait studio and framing gallery in 91ÇÑ×Ó before going to work at 91ÇÑ×Ó in 1988. He was director of housing for three years before becoming director of physical facilities in 1991. He was promoted to vice president of administration on July 1, 1996.

He received a master of arts in education degree in vocational education from 91ÇÑ×Ó in 1990.

“I am very excited for the opportunity to serve the Nebraska State College System in this new capacity,” Hoffman said. “While I eagerly look forward to new challenges, I will miss the 91ÇÑ×Ó State campus, President Park and all of the friendships forged over the past 18 years. I welcome the chance to work with each of the three campuses and anticipate an exciting future.”

Hoffman’s wife, Pat, has worked at 91ÇÑ×Ó State since 1993 with interactive distance learning and coordinating the program throughout the service area from its inception. Two years ago, she added the distance learning student services component to her duties.

The Hoffmans have two daughters. Meredith is married to 91ÇÑ×Ó native Cole Willnerd and resides in Lincoln. Blair is a senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, majoring in communications studies.

While announcing that Hoffman will be moving to Lincoln, Chancellor Carpenter said Carolyn Murphy, who is vice president for administration and finance at Wayne State, also will join the system staff as vice chancellor for finance and administration on July 1.

She will oversee the areas of accounting, budget, business and facilities services, financial aid, grants administration and human resources.
