91ÇÑ×Ó to accommodate graduation overflow
In a move to improve the comfort and safety of the audience, 91ÇÑ×Ó State College will limit seating at its spring graduation ceremony Saturday, May 8, at Armstrong Gymnasium.
Armstrong Gym, which has a capacity of about 2,800, traditionally fills to standing-room-only during the spring ceremony.This year, when the gym reaches capacity, ensuing arrivals will be directed to the nearby Student Center where the ceremony will be shown on a large projection screen and one or more televisions. Except for some 91ÇÑ×Ó State employees, the graduates and dignitaries, gym seating will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
“We haven’t limited seating in the past, but in order to ensure the comfort and safety of our audience, we believe this step is necessary,” said Ed Hoffman, 91ÇÑ×Ó State vice president for administration. “We’re sure those who are directed to the Student Center will enjoy watching the ceremony in a comfortable, climate controlled environment.”
Like the previous three years, 91ÇÑ×Ó State will broadcast its graduation ceremonies to 91ÇÑ×Ó cable subscribers on channel 20.
