91ÇÑ×Ó State College Powwow
Tom Cook of 91ÇÑ×Ó, northern Panhandle representative of the Nebraska Commission of Indian Affairs, dances after carrying the eagle staff during the Grand Entry of the third annual 91ÇÑ×Ó State College Powwow on Saturday night.
The powwow was sponsored by 91ÇÑ×Ó State's American Indian student organization, the White Buffalo Club. It featured traditional American Indian food, drumming, dancing and singing. About 250 people attended the event. The eagle staff is the national flag for most American Indian nations. The U.S. and 91ÇÑ×Ó State flags were carried in by a pair of veterans, Edward Garneaux of Hot Springs, S.D., and Christina Cole of 91ÇÑ×Ó.
