What is The Big Event?
The Big Event is a student-led, community service day designed to say thank you to the community of 91ÇÑ×Ó. Started at Texas A&M University in 1982, The Big Event now occurs at 125 campuses across the nation.
April 20, 2013 marked the beginning of this tradition at 91ÇÑ×Ó State College. More than 400 91ÇÑ×Ó student, faculty and staff volunteers completed 15 jobsites in 91ÇÑ×Ó and surrounding areas. Volunteers visited residents at retirement communities, beautified city parks, painted in several buildings and much more.
This annual tradition continues to attract hundreds of 91ÇÑ×Ó volunteers who complete an average of 50 jobsites each year. The Big Event will be back April 11th, 2026!
