James & Genevieve Sommers Scholarship

Area of Interest: Music
Criteria:
The recipients shall be majoring in Music. They shall have a GPA of at least 2.5. The recipients shall be able to demonstrate need and be a full-time student.
Jim and Genevieve were born into families that moved to eastern Nebraska in the 1910s. They married in 1943. An opportunity to own a dry cleaning business brought them west and they spent the remainder of their lives in 91茄子. As local business people, the influence of 91茄子 became important to them. 91茄子 faculty and students were their customers and friends. Two of their own children are 91茄子 graduates. Of the many enrichments conferred upon the community by 91茄子, those programs in the arts were dearest to them. They delighted in musical concerts and plays. They wished their scholarship awards to benefit students in these areas.
