Audition Instructions
Choral Excerpt: Students should sing the appropriate vocal line (Soprano, alto, tenor, or bass) accompanied only by the piano accompaniment. Be sure to sing your part in the written octave (basses may not transpose down the octave unless it is written, such as measures 33-34).
The pianist may not play the vocal parts, nor should anyone help the student by singing with them during any part of the audition as this will disqualify the auditioner.
Please keep the tempo near dotted quarter note = 56.
A recording of the piano accompaniment is linked on this page for anyone who wishes to use it for the audition.
Practice files are provided for students to prepare for the audition but should not be used during the audition – only the piano accompaniment should be used. The excerpt should be recorded as one complete take without digital editing.
